she got there in 2001 when the team was loaded. What has she done to help the program? I've heard the facilities are substandard, we don't know the coaches salaries because its a private school.

Let's see Miami started winning under Schnellenberger, and continued winning under Johnson and Erickson. Then came NCAA sanctions and Erickson left for the NFL. Miami hired Davis to clean things up, and he got them back on track. What did all of them have in common? They all had head coaching experience. When Davis left Miami hired Coker who had no experience as a head coach, and it showed after year one. When it became obvious Coker could not sustain the program he was fired. Did Shalala look for an experienced head coach to replace Coker? No, she took a shot with Shannon, and he was no better than Coker. In fact, he left the program in worse shape than when he took over. I think Shalala's actions speak louder than her words. She went shopping in the bargain basement for the leader of your signature athletic program, and she was satisfied with bargain basement results.
