Perhaps we have just had bad luck and in the past these teams would throw the kitchen sink at these players.
Hopefully with the new rules in place, it will change some of that. A player in the 5th rd won't be getting a $5 mil bonus.

It's very uncommon...and not an indicator of anything IMO.
In fact, it may be more of an indication that teams get a real good feel for the signability of LSU prospects over other prospects.
Or, it may be a reflection of Mainieri's approach to choosing the kids he chases. He works to understand what a kid wants from a signing bonus perspective and focuses on kids that he thinks have a higher probability of choosing college.
In short, I don't think it reflects poorly on Mainieri at all.
