Rich Learner interviewed those 4 players and the one hour special is currently airing on The Golf Channel. If you missed it, check their schedule as I'm sure they will reair it.

One hell of an hour with 4 of golfs greatests.

Must be a night for nostalgia on The Golf Channel. They are currently airing a special on Nelson, Hogan & Snead.

Yep, and prior to that they are going to have a hour special on the '91 Ryder Cup. Hell of a night for golf nostalgia.

Wow!!

That was a hell of a special on the War by the Shore. I had to LOL at the allegations of Seve's gamesmanship. Coughing or jingling change in the middle of someone's backswing.

Calc choked like a dog coming down the stretch. Faldo also played like a dog. Hell of a match.

I have to admit, I love golf, and I thought I was fairly knowledgable of golf history, but I didn't know about the 1991 Ryder Cup. I watched that special not being certain that the US won. After seeing Langer miss the putt, I recall seeing that highlight before, but I didn't know how close that Ryder Cup was all week long, and how the entire Cup came down to one 6 foot putt.

Calc... Just awful.

How bout Langer/Irwin finishing that great week off with 4 holes and the course to themselves? Good thing Irwin had that two hole lead.

I remember taking off that Friday and watching all 3 days of the Ryder Cup coverage. The course was a joke, hindsight being 20-20. Dave Stockton made the right choice having Hale in the anchor match.

Very cool seeing how NBC chose to stay with Ryder Cup coverage on Saturday night.

I knew my Father in law never liked Jose Maria Olazabal, now I know why.

1991 must have been the last Ryder Cup match that Colin Montgomery ever played poorly in. As much as Monty choked in majors, he was nails in the Ryder Cup.

I think you meant Seve. I never heard any players complain about Jose. I worked the Sprint International for CBS from 91 - 02. Met him in the CBS compound and he was approachable and easy to talk to. Monty on the other hand.

No, when Olazabal won the Masters in the 1990s, he told me that he didn't like him. Maybe it wasn't necessarily him, but my paw in law was just pulling for an American to win.

But seeing that he teamed with Seve to beat down the Americans in the Ryder Cups, it could just be guilt by association (with Seve). It definitely put this years emotional reaction by Olazabal at the Ryder Cup when remembering Seve into perspective. I didn't know that those two were partnered together so much.

He didn't necessarily play poorly in 1999, but Payne Stewart was drilling him in singles matches on Sunday before he conceded the match when a U.S. victory was guaranteed. Montgomery's sterling singles record was boosted by Stewart being a gentleman and a good sport, something Montgomery was never known for.

I am surprised that they didn't talk more about Anzinger in that match against Jose/seve .. He was cheating and seve called him on it

Golf digest did a great story on that Ryder cup over the summer ...

If you're talking about the switching balls mid-round, they did talk about it. They showed that moment (first match of the entire event) as setting the stage for a heated, and fiercely competitive Ryder Cup.

Trashy Euros didn't call for the penalty until after 3 holes had been played. Since the waited 3 holes, no penalty was assessed (who knew there was statute of limitations on a golf penalty?). Had they simply called the Americans on the switch after that first hole, the Euros would have been awarded that hole.

Didn't matter anyway, Seve/Jose won the match.
