wainright seemed one of the least attractive candidates of the ones mentioned in the paper. Dont know much about him as a coach but thats a jump to murderers row and inheriting a staff could be a problem, Trying to bring in his system to the "good ole boys" who may not be receptive. Sulphur always reminded me of Denham springs, lots of kids with community support (may be good or bad) but not alot of athletes, but maybe running a wing / option offense can offset that.

Wait, you serious?
Who was a better candidate? The candidates that were listed in the paper were:
John Paul Duhon - He's been an assistant for 15 years @ Sulphur. You think there's a reason he's been just an assistant for 15 years and never got the opportunity or ever been hired as a head coach? He's also the wrestling coach....or was. Add that to the fact that from what I gathered from people, he would have about the same amount of kids come out as Fuselier because kids don't like him. He's been on with Viator, Hebert, Bourgious, and Fuselier. Never changed positions or got a promotion. I wouldn't have gone to any more Sulphur games if that guy would have been hired.
David Trahan - I've known David for a long time. He's actually a little younger than I am, but I wouldn't have minded seeing him get a shot. He's an asst. coach at McNeese under Viator but I guess age and experience cost him Sulphur. I would guess he would be starting at a smaller school and then move up.
Reynolds - He hasn't been coaching. Last success he's had was in Vinton. In 1999.
The out of state guys, I tried looking them up and come up with nothing. If they were that good, you would find at least something online somewhere.
Now, talking to people that has watched his teams play and played against him, Wainwright was the perfect hire for that spot.
