He's usually in good positions, but he's terrible at locating the ball in the air. Its really sad on how bad he is at finding the ball. On a few occasions his athleticism allows him to make up for it and make a nice play.

My honest opinion is that a difference maker at pass rusher would make the secondary look infinitely better.
Although I definitely want to nab a CB and/or S in the draft.

This.

I think we should without-a-doubt nab a pass rusher (of whatever variety we can-DE,DT,OLB - BPA) in the first round. If we have our 2nd pick (I don't think we will), maybe nab a safety or corner. I think we could probably get a good safety (Elam?) in the 3rd.

We need a front four before anything. Get consistent pressure and that front four will make any secondary look a thousand times better. You build up front first, then you move to the secondary. At the very least, early part of our draft needs to go to DT/DE. We need more than Cam Jordan to rush the passer. I'm not sure Wilson is really coming along that great. Hicks looks good but he's still raw as hell. Ellis and Smith are gone. Going to need a DE/DT for sure.

It's frustrating. We are a Man to Man secondary and sign Jason David who is a zone CB and we draft Jenkins who is more of a zone CB and move him to safety. We finally draft PRob who is a Man to Man CB then we switch to more of a Zone defense and are stuck with a zone CB at FS and a Man to Man CB in a zone scheme. :frustrating:

we're paying the price for going on a 3rd DC in 7 years. A great example of the strength of continuity. You see how the plug a guy in and he plays well on offense from a very set system. You hear that about the Pittsburgh D. It has been the same forever. Hoping 3rd time is a charm with Spags.

I'm tired of all these posters making excuses for these DB's. I think the 2nd string DB's outplayed the 1st stringers all year. At least they can catch a interception when it's gift wrapped, the Harper and Jenkins years need to be a memory next year. Time for someone else to get a shot. Can't be any worse . These current safties cost us a Super Bowl last year. Enough is a enough

I wouldn't mind some change but you are wrong on one point...

Jenkins is too cheap on the last year of his rookie contract to let go.

I do think we can do better with the $15mil we're paying Harper the next two years. I'd count an outright cut as doubtful tho. He's above average among SS's.

As for the CBs I cannot say that White, Patrick, or Mack outperformed Greer & Robinson. They're not going anywhere so no need wishing against the wind.

I know y'all all like Harper but he'S a bust in coverage along with Jenkins. If they are starters next year expect more of QB' looking like hall of famers nearly every week. They have hands of stone If Eric Reed is still available in 3rd round we should take him.

Also, the guy has talent. We've all seen it. He just needs to be used properly. However that is.

Agreed. Greer gets too much critisizim IMO. He's a top notch cornerback in this league.

I will say that White has been really good the last half of the season. I'd say that he and Robinson are pretty close, but I can't say one is definitively better than the other.

The secondary play has improved and could be better with a pass rush. Go pass rush in 1st then maybe a corner/safety later on in the draft

Can't understand why everyone wants the Saints to draft every LSU player!? Eric Reid would def. not be a choice of mine. I'm sticking with TJ McDonald from USC in 2-3 rd(IF POSSIBLE) OR Duke Williams from Nevada in 4-5th rd.

Eric Reed will be a pro bowl caliber player for years dude. Don't care if he plays at lsu. He's been the best safety lsu had had since Casanova

Strongly disagree, Craig Steltz was much better than Reid but just bc he played amazing in college doesn't mean he'll turn pro bowl caliber.

I think Reid will be a viable above average safety in the NFL. Good athleticisim and a smart player. Probably not a pro bowler, but a good solid NFL player. Maybe similar to Ryan Clark.

You say this pretty often.. Why?

He sucks at covering, he can't tackle to save his life, and the only turnovers he ever gets are products of pure luck.

There aren't many safties who cover well and tackle well every game. Harper isn't as bad as everyone on here seems to think he is. He's solid in run support, average at best in coverage. He's a solid NFL starting safty.

He's overpaid, but he's still pretty solid as far as SSs go.
