BATON ROUGE -- The LSU women's basketball team built a double-digit lead four minutes in and surrendered a season-low 42 points as Nikki Caldwell won her 100th game as a head coach in a 76-42 Lady Tiger blowout of East Tennessee State on Thursday night in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
Caldwell, who won 72 games at UCLA and now 28 games early in her second season at LSU, stressed all week to the team about not coming out flat on both ends of the floor following a tough loss to Tulane last Sunday. The Lady Tigers (5-3) showed no signs of that defeat lingering as every player who saw action scored and contributed in some fashion.
"I'm very thankful for one, my coaching staff, who has been with me the entire way, then all the great players that I've been able to coach that have helped those wins," said Caldwell. "I just really hope that there more milestones that we reach here at LSU. Winning a national championship is the ultimate goal, and it's something that you strive for. It's great to have that 100th win, but there are also a lot more victories out there to be had."

They looked good tonight...glad they finally got to play a team that they could take behind the wood shed after a tough first 7 games.

Hopefully many more wins to come at LSU, was much needed win and should be a few more wins as we head into SEC play.

i saw they lost to tulane. when did they become so average?

well, the "average" thing has come from a lot of things, posters tend to pick one reason, but in no order, I think a combination of:
Pokey scandal, and her leaving Van with 7 seniors and NO juniors, one soph (yes Pokey recruited very poorly her last 2 years)
There are only so many Seimones and Sylvias in the world
Van stayed too long and recruting suffered after Pokey and during Van
The transition to NC may have led to too lofty expectations, but she does need time to build
there is also a camp (I am one, but others vehemently disagree) that NC has underachieved and that losing to a program like Tulane 3 years in a row (one by Van) is UNEXUSABLE...it does bother me how the team is playing, I know she needs and deserves a few more years, but I do not like where we are...but hope she gets us to where most think/thought she could and I certainly think she deserves at least another year or two.(think we all agree on this). now watch saintsfan and lsualum96 come post how terrible I am being to NC and that she is doing a great job...
