did you guys buy it cash/credit, or did you go the finance route?

Cash for this reason, Blue Nile cuts a small % off for wiring them the money. More $ saved than just getting the points on my CC.

It was around $7,300 and only had that $ since I was doing well after my deployment. At that time I had around 40k in the bank. No way could I have done so at any other point in my life.

I thought it was an absurd amount of money but I love her like crazy and glad she's happy. I didn't have a doubt in my mind it was a wrong move so I'm good with it, the ring is the tits. You'll learn a lot about diamonds in the process. I talked with Blue Nile's people over 3 hours total on multiple occasions.

It was a great shopping experience with them and highly recommend. The diamond I ended buying was $1500 cheaper than the one I had my eye on for a while. They buy diamonds like a market goes. Meaning spending more on a certain diamond may not mean it's a nicer diamond, the market caused them to purchase that specific diamond at a higher cost. Let them help you out for knowledge anyway.

Steer clear of the big box stores for the most part, imo.

Good luck and congrats!

damn, I spent about 2.5K and that stretched me thin. And I financed it. I am OT poor though.

I have already paid it off though. I know the wise thing to do is NOT finance, but I figured it was a relatively small amount. She is happy with the ring, that is all thats important (at least she says she is )
