The university has a huge development team that is largely inefficient and ineffective. I realize people get off more donating to athletics than academics, but there is private money out there that is not being taken advantage of.

Before I saw this, I also made and edit above to acknowledge that mismanagement is clearly not the only reason for the university's financial struggles.
