I've fired the 9mm shield and it is a fine gun. It shoots very well for such a tiny gun and is a very compact size for IWB carry. My buddy got one as his first gun and he loves it. It runs like a top.
Also if you can't find one but still want to have a good single stack 9mm, I'll also suggest my Kahr CM9. It has been nothing but good to me and also runs like a top. I've fired close to 5000 rounds through it and it keeps chugging.
And some people bash a laser but it is good for a couple of reasons. 1 it's got an intimidation factor. 2 it allows you to shoot with both eyes open. 3 it allows you to point-shoot. I wouldn't put one on something bigger like the shield but my dad loves his on his Kahr P380.
