Just bc someone is intelligent enough to realize that Rush is a moron, doesnt make someone a Liberal. You would do well in life if you stayed away from news like that, FOX News, MSNBC, CNN ect and open up a paper called the New York Times which acctually writes about the news instead BS opinions that are only stated to trash the opposition and further the gain of their own political party.

No, you stop.

I remember thinking I knew as much as my father 20 years ago because I was an arrogant little prick, just like you. I grew out of it eventually and routinely seek the insight of people who are older and have decades more experience than myself.

You will, too. I guarantee it.

I do this, constantly. With all my parents friends, professors, friends' parents, etc...

But being alive for 20 years longer than me doesnt give you instant knowledge about politics and issues. A daily study of those things however, can easily put us on the same playing field. Im not saying i know everything, but i am more than competent enough to hold my own in a debate about the issues facing our country, the importance of voting, and why i deserve the right to vote. As well as the absurdity of Rush and Fox news.

And my grandfather once told me he remembers when he was an arrogant middle agedman who knew that he knew more than the youth of the world, until he realized age is irrelevant and you can learn something from everyone. After all, the wise man knows that he knows nothing.

ETA:
So we should stop arguing now, and agree that neither of us really knows anymore than the other one and the we can both learn things from each other as long as we keep an open mind.

I know some might not agree but that is a summary from professors, Mark Gasiorowski and Mark Schafer, at LSU. Gasiorowski is well know nationally and had advised Bush after 911, though his advice was never listened to. You can look up his history, the guy knows what he is talking about. News on TV only cares about ratings and attracting whatever political party they agree with the most to do so. Done defending im out of this thread

The problem is that though they may have experience, they tend to be firmly set in their ways and refuse to acknowledge anything that challenges their beliefs.

Have you raised children? Have you bought a home or other real estate with your own money? Have you defended yourself against a frivolous lawsuit? Have you lived through a recession or depression while trying to provide for others who depend on you? Have you travelled outside the borders of LA on your own dime for an extended period of time without any help from your parents?

Have you done anything without help thus far?

I'm serious. If you say yes, I will know you are lying and I don't want to think that about you. I think you're a rambunctious, full of piss and vinegar kid. Good things that will serve you well as time goes on but fo' rills'.

GTFO with that shite. A wise man knows he knows nothing?

To your ETA, maybe. Time will tell.

There are a plethora of writings in there that just state the news (especially international news) and I would rather shift through that, until I find something better, than receive news from someone's uninformed opinion that has an agenda behind it from TV or radio.

and my original statement was to suggest that the NYT is a way better source for news than televised news or Rush. NYT is obviously not perfect
