I do agree that he was inexplicably passed over years ago, but the PGA is really trying to shake things up here. Watson has played better in Europe than any other American, probably ever, and I think the PGA is thinking that he gives the US the best chance to win in Scotland in 2014. I don't know if that' really going to translate to the current players who, for whatever reason, can't seem to get it done against Europe. But I get what the PGA is doing here, and I give them credit for trying something different. It was reported that Nelson doesn't really have a rapport with any of the current PGA Tour players.

It's official now. Doubt they pick Larry Nelson two years from now. Maybe Tom will have him as an assistant.

I'm OK with Watson as the Captain. Hell, he knows Scotland, the people and the courses better than anyone on this side of the pond.
I think the players can and will relate to Tom better than Larry Nelson.
