That was kinda my point. Even good "game managers" are capable of keeping defenses honest with the threat of the pass. McCarron doesn't even get credit for that when opposing fanbases and others scout Alabama and it makes no sense to me at all. Supposedly Alabama should be concerned about Gholson's throwing ability, yet McCarron poses zero threat to ND's secondary despite the fact he's thrown for nearly 2,700 yards, completing nearly 70% of his throws, and having the 2nd highest passer efficiency rating in the country. THAT'S the point some of you are missing.

Not sure if anyone is saying he's not a "factor". Of course the focus is on bama's running game, as that is Nicky's bread & butter & he has the OL to make it go. I honestly do not recall who made 2-3rd string All SEC QB but am rather doubtful that he made 2nd string. And so if he's not even the 3rd best QB in a league not known for its passing attacks, how do you expect him to get any serious national attention as a passer? The real way to judge his value is to ask how many teams would take him as their QB. Many would, so be content with the fact that he's on the brink of being the QB for back to back NC teams, with a 3rd not too far removed from a possibilty considering bama's schedule next yr & returning players.

He was second team all SEC. Manziel was first.

He was also 3rd Team All-American behind Manziel and Klein.

Doesn't dispute the fact that AJ relies on a strong running game.

I would argue that Murray should have been 2nd team behind Manziel. Aaron Murray had almost an identical rating (172 vs 173) and completion % (65.4 vs 66.8), and threw for 800 more yards.

AJ was just named third team all american by the AP

So this, combined with the Heisman talk from earlier in the season certainly proves that he's "underappreciated".

I guess Govt Tide is talking about how Bama is persecuted by the media.

They haven't had 1 game all year where they've been held under 100 TDs rushing.

Which makes the Texas A&M loss really unbelievable.

I was giving him a compliment but obviously the only proper way to praise a bama player is to state that he's the greatest whatever & no one else is even close. AJ gets his due all the time & he's 10 times better than the Irish QB & he should lead you to an easy win in the NSG. Good enough now? Good Lord but bammers make it hard to pull for them.

yeah, pretty much this. Even for a team who has been on tear the last few years, a lot of their fans can still be pretty sensitive. The OP was talking about how EVERYONE thinks Notre Dame will win if they slow down the Tide's rushing attack. Give me a fricking break, I haven't heard anyone say that. Everybody I talk to says Bama will win a blowout. I think Alabama wins but it will be closer than people think. And I think McCarron will have a good game. He's still a douche bag though.

I'm not seeing how AJ is down on Flynn's or Dorsey's level. He looks to be better than both.
