This is pretty bad. Someone just threw 3 different elements together and called it a logo. It's some random pelican. That's the "NOLA" logo the team currently uses.
It's the top hat taken straight from the VooDoo logo.
ETA: Also, we see that the wings are from the concept design made by Guru Design.
And the pelican head is from the LSU/Tulane Katrina logo.

No.
1) The name change isn't official yet. Pelicans seems likely but it's not set in stone or approved.
2) This was just put out by a local designer when the potential name was announced. I'll be disappointed if it isn't chosen, but GeauxColonels knows the artist and said he doesn't think it will end up being the design the team goes with.

Actually, he came up with the original design in purple, green and gold along with several others (including a few for "New Orleans Bounce") when the comment was made initially about rebranding. He heard some of the suggestions out there and made several logos. Since then, he's adjusted the color scheme of this logo a few times after it became evident that "Pelicans" is the front-runner.

Problem is that Benson owns the name "New Orleans Pelicans" and has for years. So I don't believe he could have custom t-shirts made with this logo to sell.
