If the young guys in KC hit they have a pitching staff good enough to grab a WC

Never mind, Les. Now seeing the 31 update, Dayton went full retard.

My quick take: This is the worst trade in MLB history unless Wade Davis becomes a good starter, in which case it's only the second worst.

It's lopsided because the royals aren't a contender. Why trade for a guy on the wrong side of 30? Doesn't make sense.

I know he's been good but this is a move a contender would make. Trade the young guy for a veteran pitcher to make a run. KCs window isn't ready to be open yet.

Only thing I can think of is KC doesn't see Myers hitting like he has at a MLB level....

I don't think they would really part with Homser or Moustakas

exactly. there is no fricking way either of these guys were dealt unless a superstar is involved

ETA: but oh shite wil myers? this might be shitty as hell

I agree, this a very stupid trade for KC, unless they know something we don't. They aren't a high power hitting team like Toronto, where a pitcher like Shields would really help. Shields also is not a TORP, so you gave up your best hitting prospect for a #2 pitcher.

This would be a good trade for a team like Texas. It just does not make sense for a team like KC.

This has to be good for Shields though...Pitching against Minny, Cleveland, White Sox seems easier than Yankees, Red Sox, and Toronto IMO

The Royals organization thinks they are a contender for whatever reason. Hosmer and Moustakas should definitely take a step forward, but I really do not see them passing Detroit. I was just trying to defend because they are going for it.

I guess they think they are contenders. Their pitching sucks though even with shields

I'm really Hoping KC knows something nobody else does, or they really did take some steps backwards after building with some pretty good prospects

the rotation still sucks even with this trade. lot of young bats so if they turn to big time guys, then there's a shot at some success.
