The Razor's Edge with Bill Murray

What are opinions on this movie? It struck a deep chord with me when I first saw it, and although Bill Murray may not have been Oscar material, I enjoyed his performance. He was perfect as a drifter with no real convictions just being buffeted around by happenstance. I'm thinking about it a lot lately and will probably look for it soon.
For our younger buffs:
Sad, but still sorta uplifting.
For our younger buffs:
quote:
The Razor’s Edge tells the story of Larry Darrell, an American pilot traumatized by his experiences in World War I, who sets off in search of some transcendent meaning in his life. The story begins through the eyes of Larry’s friends and acquaintances as they witness his personality change after the War. His rejection of conventional life and search for meaningful experience allows him to thrive while the more materialistic characters suffer reversals of fortune. The book was twice adapted into film, first in 1946 starring Tyrone Power and Gene Tierney, and Herbert Marshall as Maugham, and then a 1984 adaptation starring Bill Murray.
Sad, but still sorta uplifting.

The original version is better
And the book is better still -- very much worth reading if the subject interests you

I remember specific lines from that movie, almost 40 years later. Very moving.
