Thanks, I knew he was big. I saw him play way back when at Tulane Sugar Bowl Stadium. I was 18 at the time and was obviously impressed because I remember that nickname, some 45 years ago.

I was gonna say Atkins but wasn't sure if it were Mountain Man or Man Mountain...either works

Toast is only reserved for one man....Jason David.
Dante Stall-pepper a la Buddy D!
Duke McCassiter a la Buddy D!
Super Mario Bates
Heavy Lunch Bunch: Norman Hand and Grady (I ccalled him Gravy) Jackson.
Sulli-No Show (Jonathan Sullivan a la Gerry Vaillancourt
Reggie "Reggae" Bush or Mr. Kardashian
Renaldo Turnbull had a football card in the 1994 CCoca Cola Monsters set and his nickname was "Raging" as in Raging Turnbull. Pat Swilling's nickname in that same set was "Chillin" as in Chilling Swilling.
Great topic!

Jubilee.... no wait, that was his actual name.

strangest real names might deserve a thread itself
Pio Alika Sagapolutele 1997 13 starts
Qadry Rahmadan Ismail 10 games '98
Jeff Uhlenhake 29 starts mid 90s
Elois Grooms & Hugo Hollas for the oldtimers
Steve Mike-Mayer's given name was Istvan. Could got some law firm recognition like Green-Ellis with a dashed first name
Came across this one thyat should be on the nicknames if not mentioned- NT Pig Goff
What about Jack "Coach" Del Rio?
Here's one that caught my eye perusing too-
Jeff Groth. Nothing about his name but the fact that he started 51 games. It's a real indicator of the talent level in those years. He was a literal clone of Andy Tanner IMO.

Did gil fenerty have a nickname?

none that i remember. But a sterling example of how the offense in those years was so similar to the defense this year (paired with a top notch crew on the other side of the ball). Most carries in '91 with a 3.4ypc is a parallel to Shanle starting over 100 games.

Because someone in another thread brought this idea up.
Did anyone ever call him Pat "Chillin" Swilling?

Ironhead was ironhead that was who he was just ironhead. Loved watching him beat up on defenses.

reminds me of his 1st Rd draft pick son Cameron. He's been with the Steelers two years now. Don't follow them closely but cannot remember his name coming up once since drafted. Anyone with a read on his performance there?
