My aunt got a labradoodle a few years back. The guy who breeds them trains labs and standard poodles for field trials. He told her he gets a ton of requests for standard poodles from up north for this purpose.
As a side note, the labradoodle was smart but stubborn as shite.

The one that I had would look right at you when you called and he would hall arse the opposite direct as fast and far as he could go. Nothing ever worked to make that dog listen to you. He would run off for days at a time and come home filthy dirty and exhausted. I think he loved to party.
