This is another one of the things that I quit caring about at about 8:30 PM on November 6.

I honestly see no compelling arguments against Polygamy. I mean, I don't want to marry multiple people, but I see no compelling argument to making it illegal.

This. Also, people act like if gay marriage is legal then suddenly this hidden population of polygamists will join together and start demanding for polygamists' rights or something. There are a lot of gays out there. Not very many polygamists

Yeah it was probably better living in the 1950's. I think more people then could discern better between right and wrong. I see more people a slave to the world versus being a servant of God. I choose to serve God. Oh and polygamy and homosexuality, both sin.

The good old days fallacy.

The funny thing is that I agree with you on this point, but so what? Are we a Republic or a Theocracy.

Another watershed moment for the greatest waste of time in American political history.

This should not even be an issue. A man laying with a man is an abomination to God. Supreme Court should throw this worldly filth out of its court. Lord help this nation to fear you again!
I don't even know of a country that has this type of filth ever surviving. Didn't Ancient Greece and Rome fall partly because their morals went to crap?

They fell because they over extended themselves. Empires are hard to upkeep.

It's a personal view. One I don't necessarily disagree with. Not complicated at all, nor relevant. But elements of SCOTUS past polygamy rulings could prove determinative herequote:
Polygamy has always been odious among the northern and western nations of Europe, and, until the establishment of the Mormon Church, was almost exclusively a feature of the life of Asiatic and of African people. At common law, the second marriage was always void, and from the earliest history of England polygamy has been treated as an offence against society.... From that day to this we think it may safely be said there never has been a time in any State of the Union when polygamy has not been an offence against society, cognizable by the civil courts and punishable with more or less severity. In the face of all this evidence, it is impossible to believe that the constitutional guaranty of religious freedom was intended to prohibit legislation in respect to this most important feature of social life. Marriage, while from its very nature a sacred obligation, is nevertheless, in most civilized nations, a civil contract, and usually regulated by law. Upon it society may be said to be built, and out of its fruits spring social relations and social obligations and duties, with which government is necessarily required to deal. In fact, according as monogamous or polygamous marriages are allowed, do we find the principles on which the government of the people, to a greater or less extent, rests. An exceptional colony of polygamists under an exceptional leadership may sometimes exist for a time without appearing to disturb the social condition of the people who surround it; but there cannot be a doubt that, unless restricted by some form of constitution, it is within the legitimate scope of the power of every civil government to determine whether polygamy or monogamy shall be the law of social life under its dominion. REYNOLDS v. UNITED STATES. SUPREME COURT OF THE UNITED STATES 98 U.S. 145 OCTOBER, 1878, Term

The dissolution of traditional marriage in favor of out of wedlock births and single-parent households is a far more affecting characteristic of today's US society than is anything to do with gay relationships.

Should not even be at the Supreme Court... Marriage should not be defined by the Federal Govt, even though the IRS does give benefits to married couples. I am all for Gay Marriage, but it should be a state issue, if an issue at all

No, those two sentences are different thoughts... Just pointing out the fact that in a way it is a Federal issue since it is on Federal Taxes. It should not be, people shouldn't get the benefit of being married.
