I see they couldn't hide their affection for hoops.

This is like when we celebrate a dead president's birthday, right?

Or is it like celebrating the birthday of a self-resurrecting Jewish carpenter?

Which brings me to my next point. If Jesus Christ did in fact die and resurrect himself as a new being, is he still Jesus Christ? Do the billions of followers he has accumulated over roughly 2000 years realize that this Jesus is not the original Jesus despite resembling him in every form and fashion?

Did Jesus get relegated to the fourth division of Scottish football during his time in the tomb?

If Celtic is God and Rangers is Jesus; does this make Inverness Caledonian Thistle the Holy Spirit?

I want this thread to erupt into a theological bloodbath. We'll let the Catholics begin, as custom dictates.

Ready, go.

In this potential soccer board religious crusade does our large Shakhtar Donetsk contingent represent the will of the oft-forgotten Eastern Orthodox Church? Or have they all been replaced with Brazilians?

Well done.

Celtic is a hatefull club that takes part in religious persecution. Which is what sent the settlers over here to be free to practice whatever religion they want. So Murcah should be for the Rangers. Also Jesus wouldn't have went with all of this self righteous horn tooting. He'd win with class and help his fallen brother. The fact that Celtic is obviously opposite of Jesus teachings, they can be nothing less than Lucifer in disguise. Ruining the league while idoling false trophies.

Eh, Rangers/Protestants in Scotland do the same thing for the most part.

Religious affiliation of sports teams is goofy. Sure, you can have faith-based people running the show or suiting up for you, but actively affiliating your club with a certain denomination or religion in general is dumb. It alienates. Now, Celtic and Rangers may not do this on an official level, but the majority of their fans do. It's crazy and does nothing but hurt their image. God doesn't care who wins and loses matches, but I wholeheartedly believe He cares about who's playing them and watching them. He doesn't favor one team over another.

Murcah would be for Hearts...neutrality and a name that's easy to pronounce.

ETA: BPG, that's all of the religious debate you're getting out of me.

That's the problem. You shouldn't hate anyone based on religion. You believe what you want. I'll do the same. I'm not going to not like you and want to cause harm over someone's faith. Celtic is an extremist group that brings violence against other believers. This is not ok. They are a disgrace to a religion that speaks against violence. If just one of their players came out gay, could you imagine. He'd probably be killed and they would celebrate the event.

Ok I understand where you're going with this, but as a Celtic fan I have to remind you that Rangers are just as bad. I know TN is annoying, but don't vilify one club over the other simply because he's a fan of it.

Absolutely. If you truly believe the Bible, you'll find that this hatred of unbelievers, which is very common for a vocal group where I'm from, is plain wrong.

Exactly. I can try to get others to see what I believe through my actions and words, but, at the end of the day, it's all about choice. It's a freedom to choose, which is important to matters of faith. What would I be saying about my faith if I hate someone because they don't agree with me? What kind of testimony is that? What credibility would I have to influence others after that?

Okay, now I'm done.

I hate debating religion. No good for either side comes out of it. More divisiveness, which America and the world is full of already.

I don't mind calm discussion about faith, but not a raucous debate.

Plus, I have my last final early in the morning. Good night, heathens.

Couldn't have said it better.
