We're sorry about that! If you'd like, I'll book a flight to DC tomorrow and erase that pesky First Amendment off the Bill of Rights.

Wait...what? Some tool blindly suggests that "atheists" are the reason the board owner hasn't tossed up lights and I call him out on it, considering the board owner has bent over BEYOND backwards to accommodate all the whiners who were offended by discussion regarding religion...and I'm suggesting curbing the 1st Amendment?

Alrighty...

Not sure. Like him, too. Despite rumors to the contrary, we're not all banned to the same island.

In baseball terminology, that was a "swing and a miss"....

Had nothing to do with the lights, and everything to do with the First Amendment.....

I'm sorry you got banned, but we all have the inalienable right to believe, or not believe.

I suppose we are going to see atheists blamed for just about everything in the next several weeks.

Not by me....

or any of the others who put the Christmas Lights in their Sig Image. We're happy with what we have, and hopefully, they will respect that.

Glad I was only banned for 9 days. Bad things happen when you simply disagree/question an admin.

But you're missing the obvious here

No atheists here is responsible for the lack of lights on the poli board

If anyone is responsible for anything pertaining to religion being removed from the poli board it's the religious that whined about all the religious themed threads on the poli board that were critical of their beliefs.

This has nothin to do with the first amendment whatsoever. You're smarter than that so I'm not even sure why you brought something so inane up in the first place.

Agreed, which is why we found a way to individually have what we like...

I'm sure there is always acrimony on this board, and especially when religion is the topic....

That said, I can only recall one thread with a single poster expressing his angst on the situation....

The rest of us just found a way to have what we like!

I did it to make the point that we the same rights as anyone, and everyone. Having the Xmas lights in our sig pic was a good solution that either party can respect....

I thought it was a rule you had to be both or they wouldn't give you the secret handshake.

Most here are not liberals. I'm not. Still a registered republican, but voted Libertarian for the first time this past election. The fact that you, and others, link belief in the supernatural to political ideology is why I can no longer call myself a republican.

yeah your avatar shows me you don't believe in the supernatural, just the natural.

For the record: I am not a republican and certainly not a democrat. All of my relatives from NOLA that were diehard democrats all woke up and are going for the republicans now. I vote for republicans over democrats because the third party guy is always a spoiler and is mostly whacked. Just when they have me, they go and say something whacked.

i e......watching Ron Paul in the debates. I liked him but then he would say something and blow it as I would think WTF.

I am a fiscal conservative first. Libertarian second. Social issues are a state right but the gay marriage. 'right' to an abortion and Uncle Sam (us) pays for it stuff; is a religion of most liberals. I wish they would stop shoving their religion into an Obama mandate.

My avatar is an image of The Joker from a graphic novel.

As for the rest of that, there is an assumption that to be an atheist automatically means you're a liberal. It just isn't so. Whether or not I believe there are gods is simply not a political issue to me. the fact that I remain unconvinced doesn't mean I can't be conservative (unless they set up that precondition...which almost seems like they're doing now) and it certainly doesn't mean I side with liberals. It means I side with those people who remain unconvinced in the existence of gods.

But to be honest I don't simply blame the right for this assumption. Fact is, most atheists DO tend to be left leaning and as such assume all atheists are. I fight this in discussions with atheists who make the opposite assumption. For me, the only time these two belief systems come into contact with each other is when a politician feels the need to invoke "faith" into his politics either directly when talking about issues like same sex marriage, or indirectly when talking about guidance or some such.

So if your black helicopter crashes and you are plunging down you don't scream, Oh God? You scream, Oh God I am black and I didn't vote for Obama 36 times?
