ok, i didn't see/hear the comment:
--can u tell me if he sounded like he
was saying that
he's "lucky to have more opportunities than others/minorities" type of thing
or
did it sound clearly like "i'm better because i'm white"?

- i def would like to know if UT has a star player that dumb and/or bigoted.

It was an awkward statement but if you watched the entire segment, you'd have to realize he was both nervous and emotional. I believe what he was trying to say was that he had a better path to success as a "white American male" than others may have and it would be a waste if he didn't work to achieve his dreams. One couldn't honestly believe the statement was bigoted. As a matter of fact, one of his guests was a black veteran from the Wounded Warrior Project.

I'd imagine he'll clarify what he meant to say in the near future

As far as being dumb or bigoted, he didn't seem to be neither. Nervous, emotional, and uneasy in the national spotlight of an awards show, absolutely.

Some people laugh nervously during awkward moments. Hope he was tongue tied and his statement was just fodder for idle ranters.
