I'll add something substantive to this thread since I also contributed to the bitch-fest...

All according to Shea, Frank Wilson visited with Kendell last friday. Coach Chavis will visit him this week.

Kendell has an OV to (wait for it) Alabama this week, a possible OV to Florida State Dec. 14... then his real OV to LSU on Jan. 18.

They are also past tense.

but you are MORE LIKELY to win a title under Saban.

That's a meaningless designation. But sticking with statements like that is exactly what i mean. You are looking for a yes or no type of answer, but that's not the right way to look at it. When you say more likdely, what do you mean? Isn't a 50.1% change more likely than 49.9? Does it matter? Even 55% 45%, who cares. It's just insecurity. Look, I agree Saban is a "better" coach, but Miles has proven he can beat him. We were in the NCG last year and if some kid from OSU makes a short FG, we likely win. This we are right there again.

quote:

luck is when preparation meets opportunity... its not coincidence Bama gets all the luck.

That makes for a nice motivational poster, but it's another meaningless cliche. No amount of preparation by Saban caused that kid at OSU to miss a FG. It was not a lack of preparation by Tuberville that cause 13-0 Auburn to not make the BCS CG.

Bama is great, no doubt about it and they will be in the hunt as long as he's there and maybe they do get the benefit of the doubt more often than not, but LSU still has a great shot at winning another NC.

Agree that LSU has a great shot, disagree that its a better shot than Bama generally.

So we will then, agree to disagree.

I didn't say you weren't a fan, I just don't get why an LSU fan at this point would say Alabama has way more to offer than LSU at this point. What exactly, aside from history, does their program offer at this point in time that is so much better than LSU?

A difference in opinion is fine. I'm disputing your facts.

I don't think LSU has a "better" shot. I think that designation is meaningless for teams at this level. Put it this way, If you were to put a number to it, it would be within the margin of error. That's all. We're talking about 2 plays, one of which was in a game in Ames Iowa between OSU-ISU, that's the difference right now between Bama maybe winning 2 in a row and LSU maybe winning 2 in a row, that can swing the other direction at any moment.

The reports on 247 think LSU leads. The Bama fans think LSU leads, only some of our fans seem to think the opposite.

This entire thread fricking sucks.

Ok, you think he is going to Bama. You know what? I dont think you are far off base. But why not just post it in one of the threads on the prospect that already exist? No reason to make shitty opinion threads like this that bring ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to this board.

Wish everyone else would just let this thread die and move on. Clearly we all have different opinions that we are sticking to. Oh well, go argue about it elsewhere. Just let this thread die.

it could be other stuff that gets us on the 21st. it seems the hopi's and mayan's said we are doomed about 1000 yrs ago and lots of people believe them. i've head of asteroids and comets and even a collision with the theoretical planet x but not the alien thing. just one more thing to worry about.

We lost our top 2 in-state kids to Bama last year

Here's the problem I have with this statement. While I won't dispute Collins was a the top in the state, I don't believe Devall was second. The problem with recruiting is that ESPN and some of the other sites are basing their "rankings" based on how certain teams are offering kids. I don't think we lost out on Devall, becasue we brought in a monster class at LB last year.

It's the same with other recruits.....we aren't going to get every single great player from the state. It's the same with every other college in the country. Ohio State doesn't get all the ones from Ohio, Bama doesn't get all the ones from Bama, Texas won't get all the best from Texas, etc. Instead of worrying about who we don't get, focus on who we do get and let's see how good we are going to be. Reality is, Bama will be near the top of the SEC while Saban is there, unless they get hit with sanctions. Reality is, LSU will be near the top of the SEC while Miles is here, barring any NCAA issues. We are going to get great recruits from other states, we are going to lose some LA talent to other states. Deal with it and move on.

I disagree with you because I think Devall may be the better player when all is said and done.

I think he will be too, but we still had a great LB class last year. so yes he will be a better player (IMO) but collins was still the bigger loss. but like someone else already said, safeties grow on trees in LA. I think we'll be fine either way.

I think he would have played end here, and losing 4 this year means he could have been a real asset in the future.

We are perfectly fine without him

Not necessarily. We need to try for every one of them, but if some choose to go elsewhere, it's not going to destroy LSU's program. It is physically impossible to keep every good in-state player and tbh, I don't want to. I like the fact that our coaching staff looks out-of-state for some talent. While LA is a really fertile recruiting area, it isn't the only area nationally that has great players. You can think what you want, but alot of the best players from LSU's teams these past 10 years didn't come from LA.

I agree. it seems that most of the time when a Louisiana kid is reluctant to pull the triggter for LSU, well, look out.

Just as Kwon was a better fit at LSU. Devall/Alexander was almost a win-win swap.

Collins was worse...because it was just worse.

My problem is that people complain about the in-state talent while LSU cherry picks OOS talent.

Anyone have a problem with taking Illinois top talent this year? A few top Texas talents?

Anyone? No?

The frick did Devall do this year that people are projecting him to be this super stud? He had 2 sacks and less than 20 tackles. Kwon Alexander, who we basically traded for Devall from the state of Alabama, would have had a much better season had he not gotten hurt.
