why the frick would anyone make a big deal about Strong if no offer was there. Was he just attention whoring?

It was the media attention whoring. Hart leaked misinformation to distract the masses, and everyone bit.
I'm sure Strong was gobsmacked yesterday, as every major news outlet flocked to his end of the semmester team meeting.
