Will regular rem oil do? This is my first nickel Barrel gun. My dad has one of those nice gun cleaning kits someone bought him for his b day and he said there is oil in the kit for nickel.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I don't think the actual oil really matters. The cleaner is what you need to be worried about

never tried a nickel, but the best oil cleaner for a dollar is a sweaty strippers butt...

i use rem oil on all gun surfaces, except for inside barrel.

Just cleaned my .38 colt cobra that's nickel with clp and chrome polish. It's a white paste that does an outstanding job and doesn't mess up the finish. I clean my golf clubs with it as well. Try it out.
