On one SEC blog site, it was "reported" that "several" defensive recruits were putting it out there that their committments were still strong only if Trooper stays put. Cann't see any SEC AD or HC being intimidated by a highschool recruit but that was put out there.
And it was put out there that Jeremy Johnson (the QB at Carver - Montgomery) would stay committed to AU if Chizik was retained. It's all bullshitee at this point. You don't keep a coach just to save a recruiting class, IMO. Get a strong head coach, let him hire his staff, get control of the program and more importantly the AU locker room. Start changing to shitty enviroment around that place and the HS recruits will take notice.

This is Gus' team now. If the recruits committed to Trooper and not AU, best of luck to them.
Anyone else find it funny that Malzahn is now on the receiving end of a bunch of punk-ass recruits trying to dictate terms?

he would go to Auburn regardless of coach.

He should go to AU regardless of the coach. I was simply stating that many things are "put out there" that recruits say and whatnot. In the end, AU's coach will make the call on who he wants on his roster, and the recruits will make the final decision where he wants to take his services. Johnson is a great QB, Carver has a great coaching staff and he would do well at AU, IMO.

Malzahn was originally brought into Arkansas as a package deal with a bunch of his HS players like Mitch Mustaine. Malzahn's offense wasn't used very much by Houston Nutt but the team was like 9-1 late in the year. Because of a lack of playing time and Nutt not using Malzahn's offense, the parents of Mustaine and others parked themselves in AD Broyles' office demanding Nutt's ouster in favor of Malzahn or their kids were leaving.

He left 2 places (Tulane and AU) in the midst of an investigation into HIS recruiting practices. He is tarnished goods. His recruiting may be nice, but so is stolen bank money. The question is, "is his recruiting nice because he violates serious NCAA rules?"
