I never got this impression. I thought most, if not all of us, saw the Germans on par with the English.

Yea most on the board pull for the German clubs even when playing the English ones. I know I do.

Hendo, you're a little sensitive about the German thing

At this point it's dumb to argue with its success.

Don't buy that, unless you are talking about their economy.

Who?

I think most posters think that there is more quality in the English mid-table or something like that. That is probably due to being more familiar with the league.

There are too many arbitrary ways to rate leagues. You can make pretty reasonable cases for any of the three top leagues, and you will probably end simply arguing for the one you know the most about.

Atleti, Betis, and Malaga are becoming much better than the cannon fodder of years past. The rise of the Athletics, the Vigos and the Sociedads are bringing more meaning to the season than just the Clasicos.

I think he's referring to the financial situation of the league. The Athletics, Atleticos etc. will have to gain enough pull to force a renegotiation of the La Liga TV deals. Right now those clubs can't afford to keep their players because of mounting debt. If the TV deals still remain favorable to Barça and Real, the taxman might finally come down on teams without enough assets.

Yep. How much longer until Isco, Castro, Leon, Turan, Aspas, Falcao and others are scooped up by bigger clubs? Their current clubs can't afford to keep them once the bids start coming in.

I agree about that, but I think that the Catalan secession movement will bring on new talks with Barca wanting to be able to stay in La Liga if secession happens.

Isn't the talk that Barça (and Espanyol) would play in Ligue 1 if the secession went down?

I think Juve will go a long way in this tournament. I love their midfield so much and they're solid on defense. Teams will have to completely dominate the ball in order to beat them over 2 legs, IMO

Just read that 16 Spanish teams in the 1st division are in debt to the Spanish government.
