Why do LaTech fans call ULM NLU?

Is this an insult?

University of Louisiana at Monroe goes ULM, not NLU.

Should ULMers start using old abbreviations for LaTech as well?

The Industrial Institute and College of Louisiana = IICA
Louisiana Industrial Institute = LII
Louisiana Polytechnic Institute = LPI

Seems silly to me

Speaking of names, this has always been funny to me. I have talked about it here before but seems fitting once again.

La Tech is offically just Louisiana Tech University. Tech is not an abbreviation for anything . They are just Louisiana Tech ...

I've always rooted for the various LA schools to do well

Seeing Ooh La La's University of Louisiana douchiness and the LA Tech-ULM bitch fights is making me question that policy

I don't think Tech has ever played "ULM."

Our history is with "NLU."

FWIW, I got my bachelor's from there and I still call it NLU.

I do not understand why ULM/NLU and Tech cannot see how beneficial it is to both schools that they have a rivalry and play each other in football every year.

Why is NSU (Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA) always left out of all these discussions? I know we have a piss poor football team right now, but shite, we aren't even mentioned.

They hate each other because they both know, if another D1 university wasn't 45mins away their school would e bigger and better.

I only call them NLU because I don't believe they ever should've had to change their name to begin with just like they should've stayed the Indians

My sister is an NLU alum and she still calls it NLU. So do a lot of other alums. A sizable contingent weren't in favor of the name change in the first place.

Isn't Louisiana Tech's historic rivalry with Northwestern State?
