The thing is, only about 1,000 theaters have the technology to show it that way. So if yours does not, you shouldn't see any difference.

Which is crazy why they are reviewing it at 48FPS when 90% of the fans won't even see it in that view.

Is anyone mad the movie is 2:40 minutes? I'm glad it's long. I feel like if it would've been short they would be complaining that it's to short.

I'm fine with it. I just read the latest review which was rotten and the dude basically had nothing negative to say except that it was too long

I thought it was more around 3 hours? Or just over 3.

that is definitely something to consider.

A lot of time I will see a review listed as rotten on RT or in the red on MetaCritic but when you actually read them they aren't bad at all.

I think RT suffers from only having two categories. There should be a yellow tomato or something.

MetaCritic I have a hard time trusting b/c they don't release how they weigh reviews or do their conversions.

I had to force myself to finish those books. I tried and failed to force read The Hobbit.

I thought the Hobbit read was amazing. I guess the school of thought is its not for everyone.

Read as a teenager and liked it. Came back and read some 30 years later and absolutely loved it.

I thought the LOTR movies were ok. There were parts that were great but as a whole they were just ok. I had a hard time with Elijah Wood and his overacting in parts.

I hope that the casting for Bilbo and Dwarves is good.

I dont like having to wait between movies but if it means a truer adaptation for the screen hell yeah.

Never thought about that. Another reason liberals should leave america. What are the % of critics from California?

Most critics are writers in LA or NYC.

I like how you didn't come in while it was 78% yesterday. You troll.

The tree hugging liberals are mad.

Oh and watching TDKR again still doesn't make it any better than it was the first time. Bain wasn't the main bad guy.

I was too busy laughing at Tennessee's coaching search on the Coaching Changes board.

I felt the same way until I started watching Game of Thrones. Well, I still think LOTR sucks but GOT is pretty awesome.

Game of Thrones, thus far, is a near unanimous top-5 best fantasy series ever written. Tolkiens work in The Silmarillion, the trilogy, and there and back again.. are way down that list. Way down.

Give him plenty of credit for what he did for the genre.. but it's been improved upon greatly.

So, yes, I felt like a nay-sayer walking into the screening – and emerged a believer after seeing “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,” opening next week (12/14/12). Jackson convinced me once again that, despite an occasional overload of whimsy, he remains a director capable of transforming Tolkien’s flat writing of a fanciful story into a sweeping adventure full of impossible sights and frequent excitement. I walked out wishing I could immediately start watching the next film, which is how I felt after each of the “Lord of the Rings” movies.

Didn't know it was possible to dislike this book. One of my favorites of all time.

Silmarilion: Depressing/sad
The Hobbit: Incredibly fun
LOTR: Just awesome

All of them incredibly well written by one of the greatest authors of all time. Not tying to sound gay or something but the dude was a true genius, as a person in general, not just an author.
