How old are you? 90? That is obscene. I have never scene a policy that expensive.

No kidding. There has to be something else here. I have never seen a permanent policy that expensive. That is shocking.

OP, what company is offering that?

Hmm... are you an eighty year old, 500 pound, tobacco user with prostate cancer? If so, that's a pretty good deal

It is a rollover from my job. Was insured thru ING. When I talked to them and they told me that, I at that person. The rollover turns over to a Whole life. I'm 54. I have 31 days to get some more life insurance. Problem is that I'm in CHF, disable now. And no, I don't smoke, I'm 6' tall and weight in at 165lbs.

Wow. I've never actually run into an ING policy before, but I guess I know why. That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen.

Ya, that is absurd. I am an agent with Northwestern Mutual here in BR, and I have never seen that high of a premium for somebody without a serious condition. I would also like to throw my name in the hat to help you meet your insurance needs. I would suggest meeting with both myself and the agent from NYL in order to decide the best policy for you.

This thread is a perfect example of the need for people to own their own term life insurance policy that adequately covers their exposure. That company-provided policy ain't gonna cut it.

That is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. There are instant issue policies out there (no health questions at all) for much much less. I wrote a 78 year old man who had gone through 2 heart attacks and a quad bypass a $15,000 whole life policy for $125 per month. Whole life isn't the way to go for you though. You should get a 20 year term and maybe a small whole life policy. Somebody will be able to give you good coverage for so much less than that garbage your work offered. I've seen NY Life and Northwestern Mutual mentioned-those are both good and fair companies. look into Modern Woodmen of America also-they usually beat both of those companies in price. Stay away from sleazy Primerica Agents! Good luck.

As long as I had a job, the coverage was great for the price. Was costing me around $15 a month for 5 times my base pay. Never would of though I would of got sick. In fact, my heart problem came from a viro infection. Very common, but 1 in a million does has heart damage from it and I won/lost.

I'm just looking for about 20K term life for me and the wife each. Something to help plant us in the ground.
