A radio talk show claimed that Alabama had no holding penalties this year. I laughed when I heard it, but does anyone know where those stats can be found. I'm curious now.

I found the site linked below...it doesn't break them down by what type of penalty, but it does rank teams by average number per game. I goes back all the way to the 2003 season, which is illustrative because Saban was still at LSU and Mike Shula was at BAMA. I made it easy on everyone and compiled the info to make it easier to see...

For nearly a decade (and does anyone REALLY want to bet that it wouldn't go past that?!?) LSU has been MUCH more penalized than BAMA. Doesn't matter who's coaching LSU or BAMA...they're less penalized. It doesn't matter the team's records...BAMA is less penalized. The shocking disparity begins in 2007 when everyone's favorite hobbit took over in T-Town. At which point BAMA's lowest SEC rank has been 3rd, with an absurd 2011 rank of 3rd nationally and a gap of 35 teams between themselves at the nearest least penalized team in the SEC...the vaunted Wildcats of Kentucky!

Do with the numbers what you will...I can't verify them. I took them from the linked site, but I have no reason to doubt them. And while I did my best to compile them, I'm shitty at typing so there's a possibility there's a number wrong here or there...feel free to double check if you'd like.

That is absurd. You'd think there would at least be an outlier where LSU was less penalized vs. Bama one year but, nope. It's just that fricking blatant.

Single digit in the fewest penalties column-geez, coincides with their success. Must be part of that process thing $abin always refers to. Wonder where that was when he was LSU's coach? Surely it has nothing to do with what school he's at?

It's a fricking shame. And we have a eunuch for an AD that's too busy selling windows, weak OOC home games and crappy arse bowl games to defend us.
