I hope Mack does enough to stay around a few more years - like some 9-2 type records. Not good enough to really win but not bad enough to be fired. I love Longhorn failure.

This...

I hope they keep him another 10 years

Mack Brown will be around one more year. Manny Diaz however, may not.

agreed on both. Diaz got the short end of the stick this year in terms of injuries.

There were two notable injuries on defense - that doesn't account for the absolute fricked up schemes Diaz has run this year that has essentially lost the locker room (on the D side) and other D coaches.

Interesting that Muschamp's agent has been contacted about possible interest.

Tackling was the main problem, was pathetic.

Can't. Its behind a pay wall. No details really - only that agent has been contacted and chances that Muschamp would entertain it are slim, but there will be enough $$ to make him think about it. Source is reliable.

He got too cute and stunted our line out of the play, allowing rushers to gash our defense. He sent the DEs straight up the field all year and when he blitzed the LBs, he had them filling gaps before the ball was being snapped so they'd immediately get swallowed up by lineman. Granted the LBs were complete shite without Hicks anyways, but iaz wasn't doing them any favors.

Then there's this. Texas tackled worse than Auburn this year and I was in attendance for all of Auburn's home games. it was that bad

I'd say the issue was more tackling and physicality then schemes. Didn't the players like oakafor even come out and say they practiced soft and could not turn it up physically on game day.

But really Texas was one of the worst tackling major programs I have ever seen.

Mack was afraid of getting players hurt, so they practiced "thudding" instead of tackling and you can see the results of that. Oak was a beast this year despite playing on the worst defense in Texas history. And Vaccaro was good for most of the year as well.

But most of the problems do go back to the top. In this case, it's the soft nature and entitlement issues of a Mack Brown coached team. He coddles the shite out of players and it shows, especially when teams hit them in the mouth. It's fricking embarrassing.

I think he takes it for 8 Million.

The deal is ~$10 million per year - he might take 8 years (instead of 10 the original proposal was 10 years, $10 million for a total value of $100 million - plus some potential for incentives.)

Those were the "agreeable" numbers over a year ago - maybe Saban's price has gone up. Maybe it's closer to $12 million per year for 8 years - something so he can say it is a 9 figure offer. Nobody in CFB can match than and only a handful of NFL teams could.

There will be significant news sometime Monday. Applewhite is running bowl practices & players are excited. I've not been given details yet but the information I have is that Major Applewhite's status has been elevated and he may have a more prominent position than was originally thought after Harsin's exit.

So I'm left wondering if Applewhite is next HC or if next HC has agreed to retain Applewhite as OC. For sure Diaz is gone after bowl game.

Wouldn't surprise me if Mack is told he has to leave post hate bowl game on Monday, I've read that the boosters against him , dodds , and powers and if those other 2 are forced to go wouldn't surprise

I've said it before and I'll say it again, DeLoss Dodds is the "Jerry Jones" of athletic directors. There's simply no argument against that.
