What are the band members hearing?

Don't they usually hear pretty early on what bowl we going to?

Heard from one of them that athletics signed a contract with the chickfila bowl friday morning and were figuring out travel money to get everyone back to baton rouge for the trip.

The 08 chick fil a bowl parade was awesome. It was 40 and the wind was blowing 35 mph. We went down under a bridge which became a wind tunnel and plumes were shooting out o people's shakos.

Ha I heard that from previous members in my section too. Definitely would not want to repeat. At least the cap one parade my freshmen year was what, a mile or so it seemed?

I thought the band does sometimes find out early?
I know in 2007 they knew we were going to the national championship game before it was announced.

We knew we were going to the Chick fil a and Cap one a week early in 08 and 09 but everyone knew that.

You sure? LSU would have been going to New Orleans regardless in 2007 (as either the SEC champ in the Sugar Bowl or the #2 team in the land in the BCSCG).

The guy I knew was the dude who conducts the band during the game in the stands. So maybe he knew more than just your normal band member.

What I'm suggesting is that it may not matter. The band would need to know where the team's going for logistical purposes. Since some of the bowls are played in unique locales (Sugar Bowl and Cotton Bowl for example), knowing where the team is going is equivalent to knowing its bowl game.
In 2007, though, LSU was guaranteed to go to NOLA regardless of the bowl game, so knowing where the team was going (as the band might reasonably be expected to know ahead of time relative to us mere fans) wouldn't be indicative of what bowl the team bagged.
That said, since our options are Dallas or Atlanta this year, once they know where we're going, we'll know what game it is. Here's hoping it's pretty soon!
