Outside of M&M, I think the rest of the underclassman on defense have something to prove and could mean the difference in what happens with LSU's run to Pasadena next year. It's extremely selfish of me to say, but I just wish they had the pride to prove that LSU isn't ok with being second best.
eta. And when Sam committed, he said "we will win a national title". If he wants to fulfill that for real, then he should come back even though I wouldn't blame him if he left.

No one on that defense should leave as underclassman but Montgomery.

Me too. Which fricking sucks, we just get so unlucky with the draft. Then other teams have guys stay.

I tend to agree as well, I just didn't want to sound extreme. Mingo disappointed this year. I know they have a lot to lose, but I just wish I could see that pride and commitment from the team to not accept being an afterthought. We could be a special team if they decide to stay.

Mingo is a top 15 pick. He gone.

Minter and Reid...I dunno. Minter could improve his stock by returning but Reid doesn't have anything to gain

this

i expect Reid to go. of course it will hurt at first but we have great young secondary players to fill those shoes i think having minter another year would benefit the young studly LBers we have and it should push minter into 1st round with another standout year

Does anyone know Reid's 40 time? IMO, if he has a great 40 time he's gone. Otherwise, I think he could benefit from staying.

I think Mingo is definitely gone. Very high on a lot of scouts' board because of his speed/versatility. Could be a Von Miller/DeMarcus Ware type in the NFL.

I think Montgomery needs to stay. He's got the size and overall speed, but just doesn't show the explosivness off the ball. Always seems his movement is well after the snap which allows the tackle to get set up in his blocking stance before having to engage. I don't think it is as much his quickness/speed as it is his reflexes and/or inability to anticipate the snap count.

Well, I didn't think Mingo had his best year. I'd be surprised if his draft status did not take a hit. He had games where he jumped offsides THREE times and didn't have many sacks at all this year.

All the guys on the preseason "potential early departure" list kind of had sub-par years. It makes you feel like they weren't all there and we're kind of ready to move on. They still had intensity in spots, but not like last year.

He was more explosive than Mingo this year. His stats show it too.

Agreed but he has all kinds of upside and talent. NFL teams aren't going to care about the year he's had.

He is the prototype for a 3-4 OLB. I'd be shocked if he slipped past #15.

Remeber, Tyson Jackson was taken 3rd over all with absolute crap numbers his last year.

If NFL scouts see what I do, he'll be back. He'll be handled by people every Sunday like Bama has on their O-line.

Why are people saying this?

He's bigger than Von Miller who is doing just fine right now.

I honestly don't believe Mingo is playing his natural position with a hand in the dirt. He was built to be a rush OLB.
