quote:no, just using an example of how it can turn around with not having total overhaul changes. Joseph, Manning, Watt, & Barwin were four big adds in one year. The difficulty is "hitting" on your free agent decisions & draft picks in one year.
I'm not sure we are in the same spot as Houston was
Imagine a DE across from Jordan that you could pencil in 10+ sacks a year from. Let's go for a proven free agent for that. You pick who it might be (Avril, Michael Johnson, whoever). Then add another playmaker in Round 1. It could be a LB, DB, or DL. The main thing is, it has to be a day one starter that is a difference maker. Two guys like that to the established core here is enough to make a big difference IMO.

Isn't Connor Barwin a FA this coming year?
Like I said Hoodoo, I see the improvement. I'm just not ready to say they are good. Getting run out of the building one half and stopping a team the next half doesn't make you a good defense. And yes, 7-10 points a game may be asking for too much, but giving up 27 points per game (27th in the NFL) is not good.
Like I said, I see what y'all are saying. I just don't think and handful of series over the past three weeks makes us a good defense. Consistency over a few games.
Take the flip side. Our offense has been great all year long. Just because we had an awful game last week doesn't make us an awful offense.
