Somebody started a thread about this recently... It got a lot of idiotic and delusional responses. He's not coming back or he would be making an effort now. His value is obviously up and if not the Cowboys, someone will take a run at him. So there is no reason why the Saints and Payton couldn't currently discuss a better paying deal. He would be in talks with the Saints if he wasn't clearly interested in holding out for a job he wants more. Get ready for the long goodbye friends. And watching your team circle the drain the next few years (until you finally decide Brees is a has-been) will be extra fun while simultaneously seeing Payton bring Dallas back to glory and loving every second of having his dream job.

It could happen. The Saints don't have the roster right now to build a dynasty, so, a step back for them in the pecking order would not be unusual.
Most teams who win the SB don't sustain the excellence. Bucs won, but are now mediocre. Panthers got to the SB and are now a train wreck.
There is no guarantee that the Saints will continue to be on top . . . hell, they are not anywhere near the top now, so, maybe the descent has already begun.
That's NFL football for ya!
