The great thing about Sirius/XM radio are the stations that play groups you never hear on FM radio. I listen to channel 33 a good hit and am constantly rediscovering groups I remember but was too young in the 80s to look past their one hit.

Oingo Boingo - don't laugh but they're a pretty good band. I only knew Weird Science but have heard a few very catchy songs of theirs on First Wave. Songs like "Stay" and "Just Another Day" and "Dead Man's Party" is good stuff.

--The MF'ing FIXX: "Saved by Zero" is my quintessential 80s song and video.

--Berlin: "Pleasure Victim" is the epitome of the early 80s new synth pop sound.

Others:

--Scandal/Patty Smythe
--Howard Jones: nobody seems to remember him, but he had plenty hits.
--Wang Chung: We had fun. We Wang Chunged.
--ABC

INXS without a doubt. Hutchence was a boss. Kick is literally a perfect album. Great musicians too. The Wembley show from 91 is one of my favorite concerts to watch.

How about OVER rated bands? wait, too many of those. I don't think a band should be more popular just because the singer kills himself (Kurt!!) - but Nirvana was still very good.
I just can't think of many underrated ones ATM.
