And it's a good example because Paul will have to want to play for where ever he ends up. But it will be very hard for the Knicks to make the moves it would take to land Paul. Not impossible, but if I'm considering realistic scenarios of where Paul signs besides LA, I see Atlanta as the biggest threat, especially if Dwight leaves the Lakers.

That one would be tough too, if you mean both Paul and Howard going to the Hawks. They have the cap space, but I've heard rumors they would want to go because of Josh Smith. So the Hawks would have to re-sign Smith and trade away Horford (btw, how does Horford make less money than Eric Gordon?) to make the money work. It could happen, but I really think D. Howard stays in LA. There is too much money to be made and I think he'll love the attention. You never know though..
