Had a friend that works for Stats Inc do some research on a stat for me to see which FBS teams have the longest current streaks of games without an individual 300 yard passer or 300 yards passing as a team. Thought some of you might find this interesting:

:nb4theonlystatthatmattersiswins:

FBS Schools, Longest Time Since Last Individual 300-yd Passer

Air Force
Dee Dowis 10/14/1989 vs. Notre Dame 306 PassYds

Navy
Brian Broadwater 11/11/2000 vs. Tulane 302 PassYds

Vanderbilt
Chris Nickson 11/11/2006 vs. Kentucky 446 PassYds

Georgia Tech
Taylor Bennett 10/6/2007 vs. Maryland 309 PassYds

LSU
Matt Flynn 11/3/2007 vs. Alabama 353 PassYds

FBS School, Longest Time Since Last Game with 300 Passing Yards as TEAM

Air Force ---not since at least 1996 but no earlier than 10/14/1989 *limited database to 1996

Navy 09/21/2002 vs. Northwestern 300 PassYds

Army 11/17/2007 vs. Tulsa 328 PassYds

LSU 10/25/2008 vs. Georgia 309 PassYds

cool. I like this stuff, you can spin it anyway you like.

What's LSU record sincce Flynn threw for 300?

and team since the Chicken bowl in 08?

my point being, probably won lots of games without a good/great passing game

Proves how great of a coach Miles is imo. All these wins with inadequate QB's for many many years.

Yeah. Especially when you realize that Mett was only 2 yards away against Alabama. Is there really that big of a difference between 300 and 298?

Not a big difference but 300 yards passing is that metric that everyone likes to use. So when using it, you really see how poor our passing game has been the last 4+ seasons. Army has had a 300 yard passer since we last did.

This just in......there are ways to win football games that don't involve 300 yards passing. Just because a QB doesn't throw for 300 yards doesn't mean the passing game is "piss poor". It is all relative.

But if you actually watch the football games, especially the ones from 2008-2011 and early 2012, your eyes will tell you otherwise.

GTFO with this shite.

you can put a game away early and use the running game to get you home. We did that alot last year.

interesting stat though.

Cool stats.

I would like to see how LSU ranks on 100, 150 and 200 yard rushing games as a team during this same time period.

I would bet LSU would be near the top.

In the NFL, a team with gaudy passing stats is usually losing. Playing from behind coupled with an inability to run the ball effectively leads to great passing "stats"....

I'll take the wins....there is no such thing as moral victories. Save the participation ribbons for the soccer moms....

So the hell what?

Have they played for a National Championship since we last did?

Cool stat. Proves how good Miles can be with average QBs. Mett will top 300 eventually.

Jesus Christ some of yall are beyond retarded. I thought we could all agree that our main weakness the past 4+ years is passing. Right? Ok then, I found a stat that I found interesting that lumps us in with a bunch of triple option teams. Yes I'm aware that you dont need to throw it 300 yards a game to win. Yes I'm aware that Army hasnt played for a NC, you insufferable idiot. I dont think anyone can argue though that we have needed to throw the ball in some of our losses the past few years and haven't been able to.

No doubt. Hopefully we pick up last season how we ended this season with the vast improvements we saw in the passing game.

Jesus Christ you are a raging count. I didnt argue that we have the greatest passing game in the world you stupid arsehole. I simply asked what difference does it make if we don't throw for 300 yards a game.

Yes, our passing game is the weakest part of our football team. Does that make you feel better that I said that? Now go grab yourself a new Tampax and and a glass of wine.

It's a statistic. One that illustrates what we haven't been able to do for quite some time now. I know we have a lot of wins. This is pointing out our biggest weakness. One that has cost us games and haven't seemed to be able to fix in a long time. That's the difference. There are 120 FBS teams and 115 of them have been able to do this. That's the point.

See above. That's the point.

Your previous post seemed to point to the fact that you were one of those guys that didn't seem to think it mattered.

Wow, man. You told me. I guess I will go sit at the little kids table and let the adults discuss football. Please educate me more. I'm waiting.

You still arent getting the point of the thread.

No one is saying anything matters. It's a stat...no more.
