I've always hated Ohio State but they shouldn't be banned from postseason play

I don't get it. None of the current players were involved in anything bad and that scumbag POS Tressel is gone, so why do the current players and coaching staff have to suffer? Why not just hit the University with major fines and scholarship limits instead of screwing over the current players?

Might hurt the team's chances a little bit in the future, but's it's still better than just completely destroying all they've accomplished this season.

Fines and limited scholarships can at least be overcome. A bowl ban obviously can't be.

I'm glad they're not.
They played a terrible schedule but would be ranked #2 by default.

The fines won't. I'm much more in favor of fines, fortieting of bowl or tv money, than bans. Scholarship limits does hurt the team, but it also means fewer kids get a scholarship.

Why didn't they take the bowl ban last year?

You do the crime, you do the time.

The same can be said for Penn St, and USC when they first went on probation.

It's a flawed system but there isn't really good alternatives. I'd like to see bigger fines, but the problem is that would just impact the funding for other sports lower on the totem pole and make them suffer.

You said saturday LSU would beat OSU by 3 TDs.

Now on Tuesday you're saying we'd give LSU a good game.

Typical.

A) If they did there's no guarantee the NCAA would accept this and not do an additional year since we were bound for a lower end bowl

B) If the NCAA was fine with this, people would be screaming from the roof tops of how unfair the system is and OSU got a complete slap on the wrist and no punishment at all.

It's a complete no win situation.

Because for the penalties involved no team in the history of the NCAA had received a bowl ban for similar violations. They didn't think they'd get a ban so they didn't self impose one.

It sucks but I can tell you that Meyer and staff will absolutely kill it on the recruiting trail while other teams are preparing for bowl games. It still sucks but there will be a silver lining.

I like the forfeiture of bowl money, tv money, etc....This really hurts and it doesn't punish the current players (not directly anyways)

No you have a dumb arse AD who was in complete denial. Should have taken the bowl ban before the season. Anyone with a brain knew it was coming.

When Pryor was 'asked' to leave the team/supp. draft & you fired Tressel, should have taken the ban then.

Well I'm not sure the truth of it, but apparently people on the inside said there was no chance OSU would get a bowl ban. What if we take a bowl ban last year and never had to? Then you cost the program AND the entire conference $$.

It sucks b/c OSU should be at least playing for a spot in a BCS game Saturday, but who knows if they'd be undefeated if there was added pressure to do so
