The Jeremy Hill Leap

Anyone else notice that Hill tends to leap at the end of runs? This usually gets him an extra one or two yards. Can't say Ive ever seen another back do that. Has anyone seen another RB employ this technique?

I think it is a terrible idea for a runner to leave his feet. His extra 1/4 yard gives up the ability to break a tackle and go for 5-6 yards.

I agree with this. I suppose it's a good idea on occassion, but he seems to do it a bit much.

Yes Ive noticed and I actually think its a bad habit, not a good one. He is an awesome RB dont get me wrong.

Ya..it's very noticeable. I would rather see him keep churning those big legs of his...will be more successful.

I posted this several weeks back and was told I know nothing about football.

Burt, you failed. It's an awful technique. I was surprised so many on here realized it. Makes me think more of TD posters...except Burt.

I thought he leaped when he was almost on the ground so he could pick up a couple more yards. I'm probably wrong though since the consensus among yall is that he jumps when he could still be on his feet.

Another ranter thinks that our best running back has a bad technique
He will keep churning in some situations but what's wrong with leaping for the first down especially if he gets the first down?

Have you ever seen second effort result in a big play? You won't if he leaps on the ground. It'd be one thing if he did it once or twice to sustain a drive, but JH was doing it repeatedly.
You'll see this curtailed in the future because our coaches will bench him if he doesn't break that habit.

name one other elite running back you have ever seen do this, other than goal line or short yardage.
Hill is doing it all over the field.
You will NEVER hear a coach say you should do it or see a good back doing it on the regular.

quote:I agree, it makes him commit to that being the end of the run for the sake of an extra half yard eliminating the possibility of breaking it for a bigger run. It works for goal line and short yardage situations but he does it a lot.

dstone knows nothing here, but I would assume that the defenders know that you will never leave your feet, 9 times out of 10; and you will try to power thru or speed around.
So the defender goes low......oh, nevermind.
On another note; does anyone notice that more players are doing the eddie lacy spin move more? I saw ingram do it the week after the LSU bama game.

Couldnt think of one could you? Its ok, you've taken a stance that reveals your ignorance. You can call names until we all forget it

If y'all are all so up on the techniques required to be a star running back then why don't you coach football?
I'm with Burt on this one.
