This was a deer we had a couple of years ago (year in picture is wrong; time is correct). Just curious what you think it might of scored. I was thinking 130s to 140s. Is that correct? Thanks

I agree with your est, but 140 tops, and that is pushing it

18 spread
18 main beams
3 g1
8 g2
7 g3
4 base
4 next
3.5 next

And thats probably being a little generous

Yeah, that deer is lucky to hit 120. That being said, he is a beautiful 8pt. Hard for an 8 to score "well".

Quit scoring deer and find what makes each a trophy.

That's 113. I think you're a little low on the main beams. I think they're 21-22ish. You also get the 4th mass measurements on 8 points in between the G3 and tip of beam so say that's 2.5... Then you're looking at 124-126. My guess was about 125.

eta: I don't know... That last pic kind of throws you off because he looks bigger in that pic than what he is... Maybe his beams are only 20, but I think they're a little better than 18. Still low 120's.

Sounds good guys. I was just curios. Thanks for the help. Beautiful deer that I wish I could have killed.

Huh, didn't think 8s got that extra mass measurement. I could be very wrong though.

Those beams are 20 inches max and I probably overestimated the g2 and g3s. Like I said, he may push 122 but 113 -116 sounds about right.

Yeah, that's the impression I'm under from a guy that's "certified". Let me make sure, but I remember him saying that and I was like damn, I gotta go remeasure a couple deer.

I have to look it up. I didn't think they did but I don't truly remember.

Looking at him again, the only thing this deer has "going for him" is his main beam and maybe his g3s. Brown tines and tine length overall is "average" and the mass isn't breaking records. An 8 has to bust the bank somewhere to get up there.

Again. Great deer that would probably go on my wall.

Oh face, I think you're dead on with your 115. A 140" 8 point is a fn MAN!

He'd score a one-way ticket to my freezer.

Just looked it up. You get 4 H measurements so yes you get the extra circumference but even with that he won't break 120. It's hard to get an 8 point to score high. He's still a good looking buck.

Alright this is from the B&C website.

quote:

H: CIRCUMFERENCES

Circumferences are taken at the narrowest place as detailed in Figure C for each measurement. If the brow point is missing, take H-1 and H-2 at the smallest place between the burr and the G-2 point. If the G-4 point is missing, take H-4 halfway between the G-3 point and the tip of the main beam.

There's something about a clean 8. It like looking at a camaro and saying "that's what a car is supposed to look like". It's almost like a whitetail was made by God to be an 8 and the devil added all that other shite to tempt us away from our families.
