the whole jenny-forrest dynamic just proves that nice guys finish last. i think it's all zemeckis wanted to do with the movie other string together a butt load of improbable coincidences.

but poor forrest.

all he does is pine for this chick that he loves with all his heart and wants to be with forever.

meanwhile she's all over the country filling her holes and veins with man jizz and drugs respectively. then when the world chews her up and spits her out she returns to forrest knowing not only does no one else now want an AIDSey washed up whore with a kid, but forrest is the old comfortable sweater that's been there all along to make her feel special instead of being a nut butter receptacle that doubles as a punching bag.

so in the face of death she marries forrest, not for him mind you, because she's fricking got a death sentence and isn't going to be there for him, but instead she does it for her. selfish fricking twat.

then she gets to live fast, die young, and dump her responsibility on the good hearted idiot that would (and did) do anything for her.

like it's been stated here, it's probably not even his kid.

all this movie did was reinforce to women that you can just take advantage of perpetual friend zone dwellers, go ride all hog you want from numerous douchebags and when you're tired of being treated like my dorm room kleenex, settle down and get the life you've always wanted with that guy who's "been there all the while".

so jenny spends her youth getting physically and sexually abused by her father only to spend the rest of her life following that same pattern with awful men instead of just being with the one man who didn't treat her like the floor of a porno theater.

the thing zemeckis got right is that he put her in the ground where she can't hurt someone else like forrest (because there could've been more men in her life like forrest we just didn't see).

forrest really was a "tragic" hero. he just didn't know he was. and jenny really was a villain.

I don't blame Jenny at all. Gump was a retard, who would feel comfortable letting a mentally challenged person be responsible for a kid?

I think you and I may have dated some of the same women, because you seem to have the same healthy attitude toward them that I do.

I guess I get your point about how some women are cruel and use others, though that is CERTAINLY a knife that cuts both ways. And I totally agree that Jenny took Forrest for granted in many, many ways. But, seriously, she was supposed to spend the rest of her life having basic level conversations, interactions, and sex with a mentally challenged man? I mean, really? I understand the hate lobbed at Summer for similar reasons, but Jenny? She knew that was a one night stand. The kid, eh, prob figured she wouldn't worry Forrest about it, the product of her type of lifestyle , then she gets sick and has to do something about his future. Again, I really dislike her, just understand her motivation.

Agree with this 100%. Great post

If you think about it, Jenny really is the cause of all conflict in Forrest's life, and 9 times out of 10 the person who cause the conflict is the antagonist of the story.
