You heard right on the 10 million quote. Longhorns to Saban $10 million a year for a 10 year contract. $100 million dollar deal.

It's sad how some fans will cling to any rumor that gets Saban out of Bama - no matter how baseless and wild the rumor may be. A few questions for those fans:

1) do you really think Bama can't match $10M/ year if necessary to keep Saban at Bama?
2) why do you assume UT would offer a 61 year old - who you all claim is getting tired of the grind - a 10 year deal?
3) what's the motivation to go to Texas?

The rumors come (typically) from a select group of LSU fans who do not represent the rest of LSU fans. Since Saban has been at Bama he was supposed to leave for: LSU, PSU, OSU, ND, USC, WVU (bc thats ""home"), the cowboys, the browns, and now Texas for the third straight year. Keep hoping guys. It's entertaining for the rest of us.

1) I'm not sure if bama can or would match any offer by Texas. For the sake of argument, let's say it's $10M/year. Would the bama powers that be actually commit to such a number? Remember, bama isn't Texas economically. Lots of financial heavy hitters in texas who would keep adding to the pile until bama caves.

2) Wouldn't have to be a 10 year deal. Would be whatever Saban wanted. 3 year, 5 year or 10 year. That's a minor hurdle.

3) One of the main motivations of course would be money. Secondly, as a state, Texas is head and shoulders above bama in resources. What does bama have, Birmingham...Mobile? Texas is a whole nuther country compared to the backwoods of bama. Thirdly, as far as recruiting, he would be the biggest dog in Texas and have the same, if not more, access to Louisiana recruits and also to Oklahoma recruits. That's a much bigger dog than recruiting for bama.

While a Saban move is speculation at this point in time, there's no doubt that an all out effort will be made by Texas to get him....when Brown leaves. If Brown stays for another year or two then the scenario obviously changes. But if Brown is gone after this season Saban in directly in the sights of the longhorns....and they're hungry. Very very hungry.
