Del Pierro has earned being an early substitution and part of the big men rotation.
I can't say enough about how much the kid has improved, but I still think if he's getting meaningful minutes in games against better teams the odds will catch up to us.
I will say it's a good move to get him in these games. He brings an energy to a near comatose fan base. The team seems to feed of off it.
Good p.r. for a program that needs anything it can get to be noticed. CJJ I think realizes that and is using it. Del Piero is being a good sport about it, even letting Jordy put a tuba on him last night.
Whatever it takes to get anyone to pay attention helps.
But when the bullets start flying it's about playing to win and I think reality will take over.

Funny you would mention reality. I brought it up in an earlier thread. Like get in touch with reality we have to play Eddie and Del Pierro. I will ask like I have asked before. Who plays instead of them. If you think JOB and Coleman can play a whole game without getting tired and/or in foul trouble, then I believe it is you who have trouble with reality.
Courtney has had his own share of injury problems and has never been a barn burner at anytime in three years. Hammink has been played at the 3 out on the perimeter. Baaahh . . oops the horn just went off. No other players taller than 6'4".
Like I said Del Pierro deserves his chance. He has rebounded, blocked shots and scored when the shot is there and not forced it. He has only played 6 to 15 minutes a game so far. Not asking so much I would think for that to continue until he falls flat on his face. Which I don't see happening.
In the meantime you come up with those other mythical players who will take his place.
