I've heard it said more than once - "Mack Brown can coach my team any day of the week, any day but Saturday"
quote:
LSU fans should be thankful for their 9 consecutive 10 win seasons under Miles. They must not remember the roller coaster seasons before him. Who else are they going to get to come recruit like Miles and have a 78% winning percentage?
move this to The Rant please. It would fit in all of the apologists threads.

Torshiro Davis must have been really torn up over that fight.

Absolutely shocking they had an incident like this after Brown lost his composure in the locker room.

Yeah, really. As someone who has watched and loathed Texas football for decades, it has always been the redeeming factor of the Texas program, to me, that their head coach job is not about football; it's about keeping the right people satisfied and being a politician.
A good coach would win 10 games a year at Texas, no questions asked-- he'd just have to tell the administration that he's a coach, not a gladhandler. It'll never fly with Texas, unless the coach is bigger than Texas football, which is why the Texas fans talk Saban/Billichek, etc. for their dream hires-- they are the only type of guys who carry the weight of success to get away with telling the people who want the head Longhorn to be a socialite to go pound sand.
This makes just about every Texas hire a 'safe guy', someone who may have almost won big somewhere (North Carolina, Illinois, Wyoming, and Tech) the new guy. Mack was actually a better hire than anyone they managed previously post-Royal, in terms of being a proven success, and it has translated to something of a species of recovery and one MNC for Texas. That said, he should be doing better than this.
So, when Mack goes, Texas is going to end up going with the political candidate, and keep on underachieving. I believe that's good for college football, as someone who hates Texas.

Yeah they think it was Daje Johnson who said that.

I was coming here to post this. I wonder if he took the side of the North Texas or South Texas guys?

Uh a shitload of coaches could win 10 games a year at Texas.
All that top talent year after year wasted at Texas...10 win season is almost a guarantee with their shitty schedule. The fact that they don't compete for championships is embarrassing...

I hope so
He was probably pissed because he had committed to TCU but switched to Texas at the last second and it really pissed TCU off. TCU was pumped for this game because Texas has a LOT of recruits who either switched from TCU to Texas, or are from Fort Worth and gave TCU the finger after leading them on.
I bet he was pissed that he lost to the team he fricked over back on signing day.

Pretty good take. That's why Dodds needs to go with Mack.

Dodds has lost control, his ego is becoming the downfall of this program the LHN has taken the focus away from everything that made Texas successful in the first place, too much shite going on, get back to football, no more people pleasers, winning games will make the people happy.

yes, that's pretty funny and has been making the rounds. I personally think the waterboy got screwed out of consideration for an award.
