Pre-season Polls the reason for such disappointment?

Being in the top 3 pre-season really gets your hopes up for the season. Do you think this is the reason so many LSU fans are deflated with a 10-2 season? We haven't fallen like USC.

Hard to think that we are 12 points away from a perfect season had they come at the right time. It's hard expecting perfection. I watch football with my Mizzou buddy, and I have no clue how he handles such mediocrity.

For all of you that think Miles is a disaster of a coach, I give you the last 4 plays called on that last serious drive for USCe. Down by 2 scores, with 1 timeout and he goes for it on 4th. Wow.

I don't think it's about all the disappointment but I do think they tend to mean too much about a team that isn't the exact same team it was 8 months earlier. Maybe close to what it was but not the exact same.

Look at USC. The media props them up, makes them something they're not and they spiral downward like a plane with one wing.

Then it goes to Oregon. Not saying Oregon isn't good, they are good but very overrated. They play against a defense worth something and you have the Stanford game.

Then it goes to Bama. This team is the best team that every walked the planet. I mean, they're coached by Nick Saban! Well, crap, then I guess they're invincible. Then whoa, the 3rd media darling falls.

I have no idea how Bama got propped up to be so high in the preseason rankings. They lost a good deal on defense, they play a weak schedule (with the exception of a couple games). They are talented enough to get by their little gimmie games. All they have to do is keep winning against almost nothing opponents. Almost have the same schedule next season.

I don't think there should be any rankings, at all, until a couple weeks into the season.

The fans who are deflated are the ones that have unrealistic expectations and hold the team to those. Remember when everyone crowned our raw new QB the "mettsiah" before the season? Well turns out the kid needed time to develop.

Unrealistic expectations lead to disappointment. Remember how many declared our raw QB to be the "Mettsiah"? Turns out he needed time to develop. And tell your Mizzou friend that a lot of our so called fans define 10-2 as "mediocre". Bunch of spoiled asses if you ask me.

I enjoyed the season. We won 10. You can't win them all...our kids played their asses off and I wouldn't want anyone else as coach.

So the disappointed ones need to go get on the Notre Dame bandwagon.

I'm more disappointed about the way LSU played against Auburn and Arkansas than by the losses to Alabama and Florida. There's no shame in losing to great teams, but we should have run Auburn and Arky off the field this year. Inconsistency is incredibly frustrating and disappointing, and it's been an LSU hallmark for a long time.

Anyone deflated over a 10-2, BCS ranked #7 regular season considering the starters we loss after the spring game is clueless about the strength of the SEC.
