Grade out the Officiating

After a night to sleep on it and re-watching parts of the game over coffee this morning, two things stand out to me about the refs:
First - and most obvious - a poorly called game. Seems like the Arky O-line had a license to hold. At least one ticky-tack, let them play interference call, and Ke-Ke's hit on the QB. And spots on third down.
Second: In spite of this, the game was called fairly evenly. The two biggest calls / no-calls (strip fumble and illegal procedure with no whistle) negated each other and we benefited greatly from poor spots.

I agree with this.
LSU benefitted from a few no-calls as did Arky.
That roughing the passer call was bogus. If the ref called it a "personal foul--leading with the helmet", I would have been ok with it. But, really, Ke Ke (?) can't stop his momentum a foot away from the QB.

If illegal pick plays are "legal", lets add em to the playbook. OBJ and Jarvis

I thought it was very similar to the penalty on Ole Miss last week.

I've thought about the similarity, and this is my take: Mingo is so fast that when the ball is released he seems farther away than most tacklers. But he really is not hitting as late as it looks.

The spots were definately nuts. I'm not one to jump on the officials, and I don't think it affected the outcome, but it looked like there was some home cooking on their spots of the ball....I'll leave it at that.

Mingo was thrown down right in front of the ref

Everyone I watched the game with agreed that it was just a crappy job by the officials, and to the detriment/benefit of both teams. Just an awful case of officiating.
There were several OBVIOUS holding calls that weren't called on both teams. Two of them came in the pivotal 4th quarter, and they were glaringly obvious.
The official standing right by Ford somehow missed him stepping out of bounds on that kickoff TWICE. Another official had to tell the referee. Should have been a penalty.
That roughing call on Mingo was completely bogus, as was the alleged false start on Landry.
I could go on and on, but the bottom line is SEC officiating is among the worst in all of college football. Sadly, it's been this way for years.

Holding on Ark...x10
Late hit on KeKe
Strip fumble
Pass interference
I'm hoping the holding is what's causing the lack of pass rush. It's been non-existent from these so-called first rounders.

Almost forgot about that. Yeah, they were using pick plays the entire game and not a one was called.

mingo getting yanked down in front of the ref with no flag was hilarious

Not just on third down. The refs were horrible at spotting the ball, for both teams, the entire game.

They were consistenly bad. I don't know if that's the same thing as "fair" though. It seemed as though at times they were going with the "let them play" mantra, and at other times they forgot that and went for ticky tack calls.
They threw a flag for an illegal hit to Wilson (which kept the drive going), but then the very next play the same hit happened and it was fine.
Let's not forget that ref last night was the same a-hole who threw a flag on Wing last year for taunting. I'm not sure that flag has ever been thrown since.
Look, LSU did their own damage to themselves and luckily they were on the winning side when the whistle blew, but that might have been top five most poorly officiated games I've ever seen.
If the whistle doesn't matter to deem the play dead, then I'm bringing a whistle in the stands next year and I'm gonna blow it when the visitors have the ball. And don't dare tell me that I need to leave, because the whistle doesn't matter, right?

Question- on a Wing punt, the reciever was backpedalling cuz the ball was about to go over his head. He jumps up, catches the ball, lands on his butt untouched at the 44, yet they spotted it at the 47. Is this right? You field a punt and back-pedal w/o contact, you don't get "forward progress", do you?

Why is it people only complain about spots on third down? The spot on first and second is equally important.
Also mingo deserved a flag on that play. I don't think it was called correctly, but it should have been a penalty

Look, bad spots happen and missed holding calls happen.
The penalty on Mingo was a penalty. It was helmet-to-helmet. They got the wording of the call wrong, but it was a penalty.
These two calls that deal with forward progress are the ones I have questions with, because it is a direct misapplication of the rules - unless I don't know the rules.
I would really like for a referee - surely there is one on here - to chime in on those two rulings, and if they were correct or not.

Seems lik a lot of people struggled yesterday- officials, annoncers, lots of player on both teams, coaches on both teams. Heck even the TD troll were weak yesterday.
I'm gonna chalk it up to the fact that pretty much nobody except maybe the network bean counters wants to have a game on the day after Thanksgiving.

Like most, I've come to expect shitty, corrupt officiating as part of being an SEC fan. It brings that unpredictable "WWE" like feel to every game. Instead of being annoyed by it, you should embrace it.
Didn't all those no calls make for a more exciting game? I mean, how much fun would the game have been if Arky's Oline couldn't hold and Wilson would have been sacked almost every pass. The game wouldn't have been that close!
