Something about election funds I believe? yes. $20k to redecorate his home and possibly $40k for a Rolex watch he gave to a lady friend. not sure if he will be spared jail time but he may get a reduction.
His wife is also under investigation for either being complicit or actually taking part in the illegal use of funds.

The federal investigation into U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr.'s campaign finances has reportedly expanded to include Chicago Ald. Sandi Jackson, Jackson's wife. The Wall Street Journal reports that Sandi has become a subject in the congressman's ongoing plea negotiations. Sources familiar with the case told the Journal that investigators are looking into whether Sandi was complicit in the alleged misuse of campaign dollars to decorate the Jacksons' Washington, D.C. home.

This sort of thing is common in the House. As you know, many Congressman run unopposed for reelection. Besides, why didn't Republicans try to take him out? Joseeph Cao proved that it could be done no matter what the demographics of the district.

Cao, that was Jeffersons district wasn't it? Jefferson won reelection after that money was found in his freezer. I think he had to give his seat up? ETA: Also, the Special Election cost the tax payers money. He shouldn't be able to draw a check off the gov't for the rest of his life.

Not really.

This was not the case here he romped in the primary and won handily in the General agaisnt two opponents. While not showing his face or campaigning, while being "AWOL" from his office and being under medical treatment and criminal investigation.

What more can they do than run an opponent in the general? Are you taklking out of your arse or just trolling?

Not in this case, and I really don't grasp why you are making such stupid allegations when the facts don't support anything you are writing.

Amazing isn't it? Guy is under investigation and in poor health, apparently, does not campaign and still wins easily. The democrat party...the party of ideas and intelligence.

What is amazing to me are the people, some of which post on this board, that make healthy livings, pay taxes, donate their time and money to charity and are generally hard working still supporting this party and the cast of characters that run it. I can understand not supporting the republicans either, but to continue to look like complete buffoons in supporting reelection of people like Jackson (and Obama for that matter) is so sad that it is funny if you are not on the government take.

Odd, that came off as a reference to the entire DNC when I read it. No, you're right, I must have misunderstood...

Justin Lamar Sternad, whose failed congressional campaign became the subject of a federal grand-jury investigation, has told the FBI that U.S. Rep. David Rivera was secretly behind his run for office, The Miami Herald and El Nuevo Herald have learned. Sternad, 35, also told authorities that his campaign manager, Ana Sol Alliegro, acted as the conduit between the campaign and Rivera, who allegedly steered unreported cash to the Democrat’s campaign, according to sources familiar with the investigation and records shared with The Herald. Sternad said Alliegro referred to the congressman by his initials, “D.R.,” and called him by the nickname, “The Gangster.”

I'd be willing to bet a lot of money that you would vote for Jackson in a heartbeat if he was in your district and running against a republican to maintain that seat in the House.

You are not very bright. Obviously my statement was painting with a broad brush as to how people like you continue to do mental gymnastic to support one of the worst first terms in the history of this country (the same people support politicians like Jackson because of the letter behind his name). It makes you look like a relativist....it makes you look petty and unintelligent. But hey, if the shoe fits, right?

Considering I didn't vote for Jefferson when he was under investigation I bet I could make some money off of you

Did he meet the time frame needed to get his retirement benefits? I read about a month ago that he was holding out until his congressional retirement plan went into effect

CT, since you've decided to go into jerk mode, and I have no interest in getting into a pissing contest with you, I'll ignore your questions until you calm down, but here are some facts: 1) Joseph Cao took out a similarly entrenched Democratic Congressman in a heavily Democratic district. 2) It is common for Congressman to run unopposed for reelection in the House on both the Republican and Democratic side. 3) It's also common for flawed candidates to win reelection over and over again, because it's hard for challengers to raise enough money to take out an incumbents without national party support, and this isn't just a Democratic phenomenon despite what he may want to believe (eg. Michelle Bachmann, Jim Traficant, etc.)
