Can someone give me a realistic reason, or number of reasons, why some of you think the Saints will win this game? Did you just see the 49ers offense, with a back-up quarterback, torch the Bears defense? Is it just the homer coming out in some? What's up with all the newly found optimism? Prediction: 49ers 37 Saints 20.

Realistic Reason 1: @ the Dome
Realistic Reason 2: Drew Brees
Realistic Reason 3: Revenge factor
Realistic Reason 4: Mark Ingram is the tits
Realistic Reason 5: Drew Brees

Realistic Score: Saints 27 Niners 20

We are die hard saints fans
We have Drew Brees
Our running game is on fire
Our offense is a record shattering, unstoppable, bewildering force that cannot be reckoned with
You are on a Saints Board.
It is in the Dome
We are on a hot streak
We are all Saints fans
Our defense has stepped up big lately
Our defense has gotten stellar in redzone play
You are on a Saints board
The Saints offense > The Bears offense

ETA:
Did i mention you are on a board for Saints fans?

The same bunch of retards that beat us last year.
It'll all depend if we can get the running game going IMO

Yes, and some are homers.

Yes, and he's an NFL great.

You're going up against one of the best rush defenses in the NFL.

Alas, remember the homer thing I was talking about?

I did laugh though, I'm sure that was your intention.

I'm fully aware.

For the majority of the year, there have been very realistic predictions. Now is not that time.
quote:

It is in the Dome
OK.
quote:

We are on a hot streak
Meh, can't disagree there. So are the 49ers.
quote:

Our defense has stepped up big lately
OK, that made me laugh. There was nowhere to go but up...a little bit.

The Saints offense > The Bears offense
The Saints defense is also much, much, much, much worse than the Bears defense.

Did i mention you are on a board for Saints fans?
Yes.

Please give me a moment to find a frick...

Like I said, for the most part, you guys have had solid predictions. I've read this thread for almost every week. However, this is just over the top. The 49ers will be brining you down to Earth after this weekend. Their offense is good, your defense is bad. Your offense is good, their defense is great. I just don't see the Saints winning.

BTW, please kick Atlanta and Dallas' asses in a couple weeks. Good luck in those games. I hope Matty MVP throws another 5 interceptions. Put him back in his place.

And FWIW, so you know I'm being realistic (and not flaming), I think the Saints finish the season 4-2 and end up 9-7.

C'mon, man. You know that's not a good reason.

Someone could easily counter with New Orleans losing to Washington, Carolina, and Kansas City.

Believe me I know the 49ers are a very good team, but do you really give the Saints no chance?

In this game, no... In every game for the rest of the season, yes. In fact, I'm really looking forward to the Saints vs Giants game. I'm really hoping for a shoot-out.

So you dont think our offense is a record setting beast?

consistent goal line stands, opponents ppg dropping, big plays when it counts. I wasnt joking. At all.

you think their offense is on the same level as our offense? You honestly dont think we have a great offense? seriously?

I honestly think we have a good chance of beating them. Yes, their team is good, yes they were great last night.

Let's look at their games before this:

They got their arse beat by NY 26-3, straight up fricking raped.
The beat Seattle 13-6, at home. They looked OK.
Have a good win over Arizona 24-3, but they are showing they are not a good team and their start was a fluke
Play the Rams, who are a middle of the pack team at best, at home, and it ended in a tie 24-24
Played a tremendous game against a Bears team without Cutler, and won 32-7. Although, with Cutler this game is a lot closer.

So tell me how they are so dominant that the Saints, who are playing desperation and inspired football, cannot beat them?

You are forgetting this is the NFL, no games are gimmes, especially in the Superdome.

It has been in years past. That doesn't mean it is this year.

Oh, well, homer...and all that other jazz.

Since Denver ripped that defense apart, you've played terrible Philly and Oakland teams. Is that the good defensive play you're talking about? Atlanta still score 27 points and had 450 yards. Oakland even went over 400 yards. Philly had 450 yards with their terrible offense.

Granted, that is improvement, but nothing like you're making it out to be.

How can the Saints offense be great when they're ranked 26th in rushing offense? Of course they have a great passing attack. That still doesn't translate to a great offense.

Look at it this way, the Saints and 49ers are complete opposites on offense.

49ers: 1st in rush offense, 27 in pass offense
Saints: 26th in rush offense, 2nd in pass offense

Both are good. I don't call an offense or defense great if they're only good at half of what they can do (between rushing and passing).

That seems to be the opinion of many for some reason.

If I'm wrong, I'll eat crow. If I'm not, there will be nothing else said about it.

Good luck the rest of the season.

I think it'd be a great story for the Saints to make the playoffs after starting so bad and having no head coach.

The Saints have some leadership back, Spags defense is playing better, you're at home, have revenge on your mind, and playoffs on the line. I like our HOF QB to lead this team and help us rise up for this one. Plus, there are numbers of let down games in the nfl; time for the Niners to let down from that bears demolition.

Laugh it up Shaq. I have been hard on that gump since we gave up a 1st rounder at the time and had obvious needs on defense. But, if the past few weeks are any indication; Ingram is hitting his stride and will play a huge role in spinning clock late in games from here out.
