she is not holding the rifle, she has both hands on the deer, one holding each spike...
I am not trying to flame here, nor take away from the young hunter's accomplishment, and i am sure dad made sure the gun was not loaded for the pic. I just think the pic could have been composed a little better. Perhaps lay the rifle across the body of the deer. That is the kind of picture that anti gun/hunting nuts take out of context and have a field day with. I will just leave it at that.
Again, sincere congratulations on her great shot and kill.

She's not touching it, and it seems to be propped up with the muzzle somewhere between around her neck. Surely it isn't leaned up against her, loaded or not. I was raised by a gun safety freak I noticed that before the deer.
